  • Happy Belated Easter!

I really need to get back to my blogging!  Happy belated Easter, everyone!  He is risen!  He is risen indeed!  Alleluia!  Praise God for the gift He has given us!

So, what has been going on with my readers?  Do I even have many readers?   Let me know how your Easter went and what is new with you.

Not much going on here.  I planted my garden Saturday.  Oh my goodness!  I am soooo out of shape!  Sunday morning was a rude awakening for me.  I could feel pain in muscles that I didn't know I had! :)  Oh, well.  It was definitely worth it.  Now, I hope and pray that everything lives and I get some reward for my work.

Work is work, but the way things sound I better be very grateful that we are still working.  Looks like OT may be a thing of the past, so I better become a better money manager.  Speaking of managing money, does anyone have any good suggestions for doing so?  Like books, articles, personal experience, etc?  I would appreciate any and all advice.  It is a good thing that hubby is very good at it!  However, I want to be able to handle my finances like him.  I definitely need to control the impulse spending!  I get so hung up on buying "stuff"!  How much "stuff" does one really NEED anyway?!

Well, best go for now.  I need to make our dinner.  We third shifters eat at weird hours!   Ha!

  • Happy St. Patrick's Day!

On this 17th of March, I am sitting here wondering what St. Patrick's Day is all about.  I know it has to be about more than four-leaf clovers Shamrock , leprechauns leprachaun , pots of gold and rainbows Potgold5 , the cries of "Kiss Me, I'm Irish!" lime , and green beer ccdbp1 .  This holiday is supposed to be about this man, st_patrick  St. Patrick.  Can anyone tell me about him?  Or do we just celebrate this day to have a reason to get kissed and get drunk?

Growing up, on St. Patrick's Day in elementary school, we would be sure to wear something green; otherwise, everyone could pinch us.  Does this equate with "the wearing o' the green"?  Or is it just another silly thing that we do on this day?  I've always wondered what this holiday meant, so I am asking my readers to fill me in.

I guess I could scour the Internet and look up things about St. Patrick, but I think it is more fun to hear from people who celebrate this holiday.   Plus, places like Wikipedia are not necessarily always current or correct.  So, readers, I am asking for your comments and information.

  • Update on Work Situation

Well, readers, I have news concerning my shift change at work.  According to the front office, all shift changes have been postponed indefinitely.   I am not exactly a happy camper about that, but as people keep reminding me, I need to be thankful that I even have a job.  They are, of course, right.  Sometimes, I just tend to throw myself little pity parties.  Ever do that?

That thought leads me to thinking about how I view life in general.  Do I view it as a glass that is half-full or half-empty?  As a Christian, I should be viewing my life as definitely (at least!) half-full, however, I tend to be on the pessimistic side.  When things are going my way, I tend to think, "This seems too good to be true."  Instead, I should be enjoying what is going on in my life and thanking God for the opportunities He has given me.  When things are "in the pits", I tend to take them deeper; I wallow in my "misery".  This is definitely not a healthy attitude to have.   How do you handle the curveballs and the lobs that Life throws at you?

  • Changes!

Well, my favorite ( and only!) message board is changing!  Normally, I do not like change and try to resist it, but this seems like a good thing.  The message board is the one I spoke of in my last post: www.t2chk.org/forum .  However, it has now been changed from Titus 2 Christian Homekeeper to Christian Homekeeper Network .  The new address is christianhomekeeper.org .  I encourage all of you women out there to please visit.  It is an absolutely wonderful place!  The women are so welcoming and caring; you will feel at home immediately.  Hope to see you there!

  • Time to Start Blogging Again!

Well, it has been almost TWO months since I last logged in an entry!   What happened to my resolution to blog more?  Must have gone out the window!

Well, since we are now in the season of Lent, I thought it was time to change the theme from Christmas.    I also decided to change my profile pic.  I tried letting my hair grow out, but being fickle at times, I decided it was time to "chop" it again.  I really like the results.

I couldn't find a Lenten theme on rayray's themes, so I chose this one.  I really like it.  It is so true.  Our Lord is NOT dead, but risen!  Hallelujah!  Right now, in Lent, we think about the Lord's life and sufferings up to Holy Week.  Then we prepare for His death and Resurrection.  Do you observe Lent in your church?

I brought this up on the message board I am on (www.t2chk.org).  Some people observe it, others don't.  However, we all acknowledge that Christ has risen and is ALIVE!  If you do observe, do you give anything up?  Our church (Lutheran-ELCA) never put much emphasis on giving anything up, but in the last few years, our pastor's wife, Sandy, has encouraged us.  This year (tried this once before and failed!) I am giving up pop.  For some of you, that is soda or Coke.  Heehee!  I am so addicted to this, so I will try, with the Lord's help of course, to give this up.

I didn't make it to Ash Wednesday services this year because I have some kind of "bug".   It started out with me clearing my throat and went quickly into chest congestion and a stuffy/runny nose.  Come on, Spring!  I need some warm weather so I can air out the house!

Well, what else is going on?  Hmmm. . . well, remember me saying I would be on dayshift in a month or less?  Didn't happen.   I am STILL on third shift, but I have to say that I am thankful that I have a job.  I could complain about it, but first, where would that get me?  And, second, at least I have income coming in.  Praise God!  Please pray that the change of shift happen by or before the latest date they have set (April).  Third shift is really wearing me out, both mentally and physically.  Thank you!

Another thing I have done in the last month is join Facebook (www.facebook.com).  Are any of you on this?  It can be quite addictive and probably a good reason why I haven't blogged as much.  It is fun to interact with people you "know" from the Web or people you know in real life, but haven't seen in awhile; however, it can get a bit time consuming if you have dial-up and you have a tendency to get "sucked in" easily!  I originally joined for two reasons: to interact with my message board members on the weekend and whenever and to find high school classmates.  I am on the committee for our class reunion this year (15 years!).  Hopefully, it will be more exciting than the last two.

One other thing before I go: I'm going to be an Auntie again!  My sister is going to have a baby in April.  I hopefully will get to go see the little one and the rest of the family in June.  Since they live so far away (Alaska), it will take some definite saving on my part!

Well, that's all for now.  Will try to do better about blogging!

About Me

  • I am a wife and "mom" of one cute little cat named Tux. My hubby and I both work in an egg carton factory. I have been a Christian for 21 years, but haven't grown much. I am looking to move from the milk stage to solid food with the Lord's help.
